At just 3 days old, Brandon was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, meaning his little heart was missing its left ventricle. Brandon’s parents are grateful to have Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in their backyard. The Herma Heart Center at Children’s is ranked #5 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for its expertise in cardiology and heart surgery.
Brandon underwent multiple open-heart surgeries, and during one procedure his heart stopped. Doctors determined Brandon would need a transplant, so he and his parents spent 42 days at Children’s waiting for a heart. Thankfully, Brandon received a new heart! Now at 3 years old, Brandon is a healthy, energetic toddler, who loves to play outside.
